Location was very convenient with shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. The hutong style accommodation was very unusual and quite well executed. The outside space was well maintained and spotless.

Sometimes service was patchy but they did try, just not upto the standards you expect from a small luxury hotel. Some areas not so pleasant like the dining area, the spa that was advertised but not open, should be areas to rest, sit where you can enjoy the setting. Make more of the communal areas and outside setting.

The hotel is located in a bustling area with plenty of food and shopping options. It is also close to public transportation with the nearest metro station just a short walk away. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the cleanliness of the rooms is impressive. The breakfast selection is diverse and satisfying.

    Everything is satisfactory.

Staff is very friendly and helpful and they try to make the most of your stay. The hotel is very nicely decorated and rooms are very comfortable. Overall a perfect experience! I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

Breakfast is good, could be much better for a hotel of this category.

Beautiful Decoration and Comfortable Rooms, Good Location

The hotel's decoration is beautiful, with traditional pieces throughout. The rooms are also very comfortable with every amenity you could need. The hotel is located in a good location with easy access to transportation and shopping.

The service at the hotel was poor and the staff was unfriendly. The front desk staff was not very helpful and seemed to be bothered by any questions we had.

Amasing design in chinese style, small number of rooms, money exchange at the reception, good breakfast (but not too good for the european taste), good and big room with tv and stereo, comfortable bed. Good private car service (we used it for the whole day to get to Great Wall an Ming tombs), nice and not very expencive.

The hotel is located in hutong, that's mean that it looks danger to get there in the night, even taxi didn't want to go there when you show them hotel's card, it is very hard to find the hotel for the first time. So we had to came back to the hotel before dark. By the way, due to the map it is located in the heart of the town. Hotel staff couldn't decide very simple questions by themselfes, usually they call manager.

Great location close to restaurants and shops, comfortable rooms with modern facilities, and attentive staff that provides good customer service.

Limited amenities such as a lack of a shower curtain, and some customer service personnel struggled with their English.

We booked for two days and eventually decided to stay three. Everything is simply splendid. Go and see it. It is not the cheapest but certainly the best located in the mids of a Hutong. This makes it difficult to find the first time. Bring the Chinese printed out address with you to show the taxi driver. This makes thing a lot easier. The building is not a fancy glass, concrete and marble construction, but woods, antiques everywhere and painted with classical motives all around. For us this will stay the hotel to go in Beijing.

The building is just fantastic.Beautifully restored,it feels like you are China 200 years ago but with comfortable beds and modern plumbing! The staff were all very friendly, especially Kent and Sherry who were also very helpful and knowledgeable about Beijing. The location is perfect as it is in a Hutong just two minutes walk from an area with bars and gift shops

The hotel is perfectly located in the historic center with easy access to bars, restaurants, and major tourist sites. Despite the busy surroundings, it offers a quiet stay. Beautifully decorated in a traditional Chinese style, the hotel is charmingly authentic. the staff is friendly, attentive and provides impeccable service. the 2 bedroom suites come complete with huge bathrooms, separate sitting areas, and all the amenities you may need.

The breakfast could benefit from improvement.

Nice traditional chinese hotel in a great location. Has nice gardens. Great restaurants around the neighbourhood with great food at very good prices. Nice shopping street a couple of minutes from the hotel.

When we booked the hotel, we declared that we were going there for our honeymoon. They ignored that fact completely. This was a total turn off as it wouldnt have cost them anything to make us feel "special" with a cheap wine, a few chocolates, or a few roses. It states that it is a luxury hotel, but all we received in our room was 3-4 tangerines (tiny and didnt even look fresh). Most of the stuff dont speak english. We needed the help of the receptionist to translate to our taxi driver our destination but she couldnt even understand what I was telling her. (Thank god we had our iphone with us) On another ocasion we have asked them to call us a taxi and tell the taxi driver our destination .. but when the driver arrived he wanted us to provide him with a map. During our 8 nights stay, we starved our selves during breakfast. The only edible food we found at breakfast was overcooked bacon, toasts (that took 10 minutes to get toasted) and eggs. It was a really poor buffet which out of 10-15 items someone not asian can eat only the above mentioned. (The chinese food looked and smelled awful . The croissants were as hard as rock. The furniture in our room were poorly maintained. I.E. the puff was missing a leg, the couch had red painting marks on it and the leather which decorated the drawers of the bedside tables was hanging down etc etc. The heating was going on and off and we felt cold most of the times. On the weekend a chinese family came to stay at the hotel, and we ended up having children screaming outside of our bedroom from 7am in the morning. For the price we paid (its one of the most expensive hotels in beijing) we were not satisfied at all.

The hotel has enourmous and rare qualities such as the location-if you want to explore and live the old Beijing- and the five patios are beautiful. But it fails in very easy and cheap-to-solve problems (see below). It feels like they had a huge budget (bathrooms are great, materials are great and the feeling you are in a completely exotic place is amazing) but at the end some money was missing for the last 2% of the construction. A shame. For very little it could be almost an Aman (which exists in Beijing and is out of this world).

The couloured lights in the main court are embarassing. The charming lake in the evening becomes a monument of kitch, with blue light. The aquarium in unbelievable. The garbage cans in the courts are horrible, cheap and pointless. The bedside table lamps are very, very cheap and spoil the decor. And the curtains need to be more practical. But all this is incredibly inexpensive to solve in Beijing. With very, very little investment the hotel can be wonderful. It may be a bit sad to have breakfast downstairs without windows but what is really difficult is the fact that the other rooms surrounding it are visible but are in the dark and it feels the hotel is abandoned.
